Socrates

Socrates (450 B.C.E. ~ V B.C.E.) was an ugly guy but with an inner beauty (Mind), he did not write anything about himself, he have the art of discourse, dialogue and dialectics (argumentation). He was born in Athens, Greece. He said that you only can learn in cities to understand things. Opposite of naturalism. He starts to think in society.

Socrates thought that wisdom should not be charged because wisdom belongs to everyone, so he went to a sophist school and he make a dialogue to the person who was teaching and later he transform it into his own class. "Im teaching but not charging, because im a philosopher" he said to all the people in the school. He started to fight against people until the school was empty and all the people go with Socrates to learn.

He said that man is not nature, the thing that makes us humans is reason: to think with a purpose and this let us have societys. A society means a group of people that share things like the location, historical time, cultural elements. also said that societys are not perfect because of their organization.

Socrates also talks about ethics: if things are good or bad: what makes you happy is good. He said that inside of him there is a divine voice.

Later he get suicide because people blame him for perverting kids and for inserting new gods.

Naturalism

It is the search for the ways of nature (about us, about what are we made of and how). One question of naturalism is what is nature made of?, for answering this question appears the atomic theory which said that invisible pieces in this universe are supposed to match. They said that matter can be splitted until we get an atomo. Atomos means divisions.

The atomic theory said that matter can not be cutted, and this explains the nature.

Philosophy is reciclable, in Ancient Greece philosophy have three important characters:

Socrates - Plato - Aristotle.

In Ancient Greece people need to understand Nature so there was group of people like naturalists, pitagorians, sophists, etc.

Sophists were people who get paid to teach people about the world. Some guy in the front and a lot of people talking to him, asking questions and stuff like that and through dialogue they were taught about nature, logic, art, gods, etc. So they start to create schools in which you went, you pay and you learn.

Philosophy

The word "Philosophy" was created in Greece by a philosopher called Socrates, it comes from "Philos" which means love and "Sophia" which means knowledge.

Socrates said that sophists only care about money so they cant be philosophers.

The word Philosophy is not something that has existed. Philosophy doesn't care about the truth, it don't solve problems, the role is create problems. Saying this, we think, we find a problem, philosophy helps us to understand those problems, which let us have a solution.

Everybody is related to philosophy, because philosophy is thinking and everybody thinks.
